NOTICE OF IMPOSITION OF TEMPORARY TRUSTEESHIP ON OPEIU LOCAL 109

On Oct. 13, 2025, the Executive Board of the Office and Professional Employees International Union (“OPEIU”) imposed a trusteeship on OPEIU Local 109 under Article XV of the OPEIU Constitution. Charges were filed by the OPEIU against Local 109 and the Local 109 officers for violating the OPEIU Constitution, the Constitution and Bylaws of Local 109, and the Labor Management Reporting and Disclosure Act (“LMRDA”) and engaging in activity and a course of conduct that is contrary and detrimental to the welfare and best interest of the International Union and the members of Local 109. In accordance with the OPEIU Constitution and the LMRDA, effective Oct. 13, 2025, the Local 109 Executive Board and the Local 109 officers, including the Local 109 President, the Local 109 Secretary-Treasurer, the Local 109 Vice President, the Local 109 Regional Stewards and any other elected officers of Local 109 were suspended and removed from their positions and barred from exercising any control over the affairs of Local 109, its funds, property and assets.

OPEIU has appointed International Representative George Evans as Trustee over the affairs of Local 109 and International Representative Patt Gibbs as Assistant Trustee. They are authorized to perform all duties necessary and appropriate to conduct the affairs of Local 109. A hearing in connection with the establishment of the trusteeship will be scheduled within a reasonable period of time and the membership will be notified of the time and date of the hearing and of their right to attend. At the hearing, evidence, witnesses and documents will be presented in support of the charges and the accused parties will thereafter have an opportunity to present evidence, witnesses and documents in their defense.
